Good for No Good Reason

You don’t need a reason to make the world a better place. You don’t need a reason to help people, help animals, or help the environment. You don’t need a reason to be kinder, more peaceful, more loving, or more compassionate. You don’t need a reason to do the right thing even when no one  is looking or will know what you have done.

In fact, it’s usually better if you don’t have a reason.  Sure, physical rewards such as money or prizes are nice. Recognition for your good deeds is as addictive as crack cocaine, and if you’re a religious person, you absolutely want to get into heaven or wherever you want to go. But if the only reason you’re doing something good is because you expect a reward…then you’re setting yourself up for disappointment and hurt feelings. Maybe you’ll get your reward, but maybe you won’t. Why risk it? There’s a better way.

Follow along with me, and I’ll teach you how to be good for no good reason. It’s the selfish asshole’s guide to making the world a better place.
